Why to have a Dog as a Pet

Canadian and American pets are the most spoiled pets in the entire world! Dogs are the most popular of all pets. People own dogs for three reasons- companionship, friendship and security.

Dogs are good companions for people especially elderly ones. For example when elders children move away they would often choose to keep a small dog . They will talk to the dog and the dog will listen . When the owner gets home , their dog will wag its tail and is always glad and extremely excited to see them. Dogs are definitely great companions.

Dogs are not only good companions, they also provide good security. If a dog smells someone near the house they will bark or growl to scare away predators. It is especially important when a person is at work or out shopping. If a predator came in, the dog would surely bite them. Security is also another good reason to own a dog.

Security may be important but love and friendship is too. Dogs love to play and sniff each other and create a friendship. While they do that, their owners can create a friendship too! For example if you had a cat, you couldn't do this because cats aren't friendly to other animals. If you are lonely, a dog could help you create friendships.

Companionship, security and friendship are the three main reasons for people to own dogs. Make sure before you adopt a dog to notice that they can live up to 16 years old depending on the breed and how much love you give them.
